The Gallery by Lily Padula, 2019

The artist brings the experience of New York City’s greatest art museums to you in her illustration “The Gallery”. Embedded with hidden subway references, she depicts works by famous artists.

The artist says: "The concept was an art museum that had transit references hidden throughout the art. Identifying the references is a game for bored commuters to play, bringing a bit of joy and fun to their morning ride."

Can you name all them all?

The Program provides opportunities for illustrators, print, and other visual artists to create evocative artwork for display within newer subway cars. Subway riders have the opportunity to enjoy colorful imagery as a source of thought and inspiration while traveling through the system.
