|What's the Story||In April 1994, the Transit Authority began replacing this old -two-toned M Logo. The word "Transit" in this Logo gave off a feeling of stern authority. This logo and the new MTA Logo are referred to as "Meatball Logo". The Logo only did justice for the Transit Authority and not any of its subsidiaries. "One of the aims of the program was to humanize the names a little bit," said Bernard Cohen, director of policy and and planning for the M.T.A "Removing the word 'authority' was seen as a way to make the services a little more friendly".|
