What's The Story

Manufactured by General Motors, #NYTMCollection Bus 8466 was one of 682 buses ordered to replace the antiquated vehicles acquired by the city when it took over the bankrupt Fifth Avenue Coach Company’s lines in 1962. Operated by the Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transit Operating Authority (MaBSTOA) the fleet served the five boroughs between 1966 and 1990. They featured large illuminated advertising signs on each side of their exteriors and were part of the first fleet of buses designed and built with air conditioning.
