What's The Story
| When the New York Transit Museum opened on July 4, 1976, the celebration included a special Bicentennial Train adorned with red, white, and blue stars and stripes for America’s 200th birthday. These special R46 subway cars were also placed in regular service, bringing the Bicentennial celebration to riders across the city. The festive train became part of the Museum’s opening chapter inside the former Court Street Station, where New York’s transit history has been preserved and celebrated ever since. |
