What's The Story
| Grand Central's beautiful Main Concourse sky ceiling, desigGrand Central Terminal’s famous celestial ceiling was not part of the architects’ original plan. Enormous skylights were first proposed for the Main Concourse, but time and budget led architect Whitney Warren to ask French artist Paul Helleu for a starry alternative. The resulting mural, painted by James Monroe Hewlett and Charles Basing, filled the vaulted ceiling with zodiac figures and thousands of stars. |
