Revenue was received at the Department of Revenue's Money Room at 370 Jay Street and was off-loaded through a special gated entrance in the Jay Street station.
They ran in pairs with the first car for agents and the second for revenue.
In 1988 10 sets of money trains first appeared in the New York city subway system, revenue was transported via armored trucks, and after tokens were phased out, the revenue from MetroCard machines reverted to the use of armored trucks.
The Money Train was phased out in January 2006 and the Money Room was closed the same day.
